Councillor Jill Houlbrook is very is pleased that following concerns about the proposed 50mph speed limit on a section of the A5116 (Liverpool Road), our Council’s road safety team and Cheshire Police have revisited the assessment carried out by the consultants some time ago and decided to reduce the speed limit along Liverpool Road to 40mph, from the lights at the junction of the A41all the way to the 30mph sign near Bache Avenue. This change of mind follows lobbying from Jill over the past two years and pressure from several Upton residents.
Jill commented ‘The decision also takes into account the likelihood of further increase in pedestrian movements in the area in the future. It is considered appropriate to change the proposal and advertise a reduction to 40mph as requested by me and the residents.’ Jill added ‘another public notice with the new proposal will be published as soon as possible. I look forward the implementation of this sensible speed limit.’
